Global Women-Friendly Tobacco Destination
With the certification granted by the Global SOTL Movement last March, Castro’s Cigar Lounge became the first Global Women-Friendly Tobacco Destination; a distinction received with enthusiasm and joy by its customers, as well as the administrative and operational staff of the place.
More than 150 cigar lovers, including 70 women, attended the ceremony, adding sophistication and charm to the evening. Guests enjoyed a complimentary champagne tasting by Veuve Clicquot, for an unforgettable experience.

A highlight was the esteemed presence of Themi Bu of Serendipity Cigars & Emperors Cut Cigars, a revered figure in the cigar community and a member of the SOTL Global Movement Advisory Board. His special trip to Phoenix, Arizona, added to the ceremony’s prestige and significance.
The spotlight was on Ikova Castellanos, CEO of Castro’s, as she was honored for her exceptional contributions to the tobacco community and her dedication to promoting female inclusion and empowerment.
The event received significant support from industry leaders, including visionary entrepreneur Bryant Thomson, founder of Smoke ‘N the Desert, and the prominent women of Wrapped ‘N Smoke, led by founder Keake Federick – also a partner at Smoke ‘N the Desert – whose presence symbolized the unity, creativity and passion within the cigar-loving community.
Partners Kimberly Green, Trimaco Williams and Mike Dix, and SGM members Madeleine Cigar Royal and Lucretia R Lee-Arceneaux, also contributed significantly to the success of the event and its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
“We are thrilled by the success of our certification event, which showcases the results of the hard work of our entire team,” said Ikova Castellanos. “ Castro’s Cigar Lounge thanks Dr. Anastasia Psomiadi, Founder of the SOTL Global Movement, and Lefty Karropoulos, Director of Development, for their commitment to championing inclusion and empowerment within the cigar community.”
During the celebration, Raquel, a talented poet, recited one of her works, which aroused great interest among the participants and added artistic charm to the evening.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests raised their glasses to toast new beginnings and the continued empowerment of women in the cigar world, embodying the essence of the #sotlglobalmovement and confirming its mission to break stereotypes.
